The Mission
To conduct research that deepens our knowledge base regarding the geographic spaces of children, families, and communities at scales from personal to local to global.
What ISYS Does
The Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of Youth and Space (ISYS):
- promotes high quality scholarship and theory development that are helping to define this field of study;
- enhances the capacity of the Department of Geography and College of Arts and Letter to implement qualitative and interpretive research methods;
- provides a community consulting program that partners with youth serving organizations and policy-makers to inform policies and improve programs that impact children and young people;
- combines the talents and interests of researchers from throughout the College of Arts and Letters in order to engage with this subject area in ways that are both holistic and broadly relevant.
Does ISYS Have Anything to do with ISIS?
There is a symbolic connection between the historical identity of the Egyptian deity ISIS and the work that we are doing at ISYS. Curious?
